Root Rooting my HTC Legend

I have looked into rooting my HTC Legend but with the HBOOT and version number I am confused if I can do it right.
My HTC Legend is running on Android 2.2
build/software no. is 3.14.161.1
and my HBOOT is 1.00.0000

So I am wondering, is my HTC Legend rootable?

I would also like a yes or no answer to this, I have actually tried doing it but could not get past the step2windows.bat option...............I thought i bricked it when it didn't come off the recovery screen (!)......

Even if there was a way to get the hboot from 1.0 down to 0.43, is there..........
