Root rooting my m835

yea it seem i am the first one to get the phone, i was think about gingerbreak but not sure what will happen if it doesnt work ,and sure if i want to be the labrat

Superoneclick worked for me. The only thing is it says I have full root but I can't delete all the system apps that I want, only about 2 or 3. Its more like shell root.

well i rooted my phone with gingerbreak 1.2 ,it seemed to work until i tried the download and go to the web.Was going to download tibackup 3 hour later i tried another app and still not a thing .So i went surfing and the web wont load,so i unrooted and ever thing work fine. Can any one help me with this thanks

I forgot what version of superoneclick I used and I'm not by my laptop right now, but I had to run both exploits, gingerbreak and psuneter.(I forgot the exact spelling) Neither worked correctly by themselves. Idk if I used a different version from u, but I used everything for the ideos, drivers + superoneclick version. Everything worked fine, until I got the brilliant idea to try and use an ideos rom too. Oh well, lessened learned. Ill get a new one in the mail Monday or Tuesday, I'm gonna wait a little while before I do anything to the new one. Good luck though.

withe superclick did you try to un root the phone just wondering

No, once I rooted it, I flashed an ideos rom to it and messed it up. I get my new one in the mail 2marow though, so Ill b able to play around again. ;-)

I just got the m835 and tried super one click and it didn't work.. so I tried gingerbreak 1.2 and it worked flawlessly. only thing is that I can't remove bloat with titanium backup, so I tried root explorer and that worked.

hope this helps anyone trying to root the m835

Where do you guys seem to find these apps on the android market?

I tried searching for "superoneclick", "super one click", "gingerbreak" and "ginger break" on the market, and they're nowhere to be found... >.>

My girlfirend was about to throw this phone against the wall so I gave her my old samsung finesse and now I have a phone to play around with and gut.

ok, dumb question- if i start adb, locate the phone , run shell and get a $ instead of #, did i do something wrong? i think i might have...

Rooted using gingerbreak. Titanium backup is no help removing apps (but you can freeze them) root explorer I think would work cept I cant find the folder the bloatware apks are in? a little help

hi fellow optimus user :p! The bloat apk's are in the cust/metropcs/us/app folder. I'm noticing quite a few differences b/w this phone and our optimus. oh well; you learn something new everyday I suppose.

Yeah this phone sucks, I convinced my girlfriend to upgrade to a android phone, she didnt get the optimus m like I told her to and this thing is slow and freezes, and if you look at reviews on cnet etc. its getting bad reviews. Its turned off now so I wanna see if I can gut it and make it more responsive. Tokenpoke any ideas how to downgrade this to 2.2.1

You're wanting to go BACK to 2.1? I think you've lost your marbles. xD

If you're not gonna use the phone as much, I'd probably suggest you play with the ROMs that are being developed and polished. I didn't know that ROMs would change the way the phone works...now I'm loving it. I didn't think 2.2 would be so much better. I feel as if my phone's new!

@Tokenpoke. You learn something new every day.

"...'You learn something new everyday.'
What are you learning?' Sophos asked.
To keep my mouth shut, I hope."
