Root Rooting on stock ZV5?

I bricked my previous optimus to no return (as in no android base unrooted with the modded recovery on it how I don't know)
So I proceeded to buy a new optimus V and it came with the following Software specs:
Android 2.2.2
Baseband version: VM670ZV5_60401001
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
lge@android-build #4
Build Number: ZV5.41C0E845
SW Version: VM670ZV5
HW Version: 1.2

Just curious as if this is capable of rooting. And no, I cannot update to the ZV9 update. It says my system is up to date with ZV5

Well I figured I could use gingerbreak, but the whole thing I got stuck with the security update when I took the phone out of the box (I just had to buy this Optimus V almost a month ago).
I don't wanna try to root it and the phone not be able to accept the root and then boom! I am screwed.

The optimus v is pretty bullet proof. It is hard to brick it to the point it can't be fixed. If you follow directions to the letter you will be fine, but when doing any rooting or custom Roms things can happen so you have to be willing to take a chance of turning your phone into a paperweight.

I suppose so. I bricked my last one like I said. I had gone back to my stock recovery, unrooted it then tried to put the security update (at the time heard it was a radio update) on the phone. The phone aborted the update and I pulled the battery (the phone was not responding to any commands).
turns out It had no android base and kept loading CWMR and superoneclick and ADB read it as rooted. Dunno what the hell happened but I was now remembering why stock sucks... too clunky and laggy and 2.2 just sucks as a whole for the phone. I enjoyed 2.3.7 but the problem is I have the stupid security update as stock and I have no extra money if I brick this phone ya know?
