Root Rooting on the 3 network...?

Hello,

Would one of you kind experts please tell me the best way to go with rooting, based on the info below please? From a thread I read ages ago (that I can't find now), I seem to remember that the Hero on the 3 network has to be downgraded and something about a gold card. Is this correct? I just want to make sure I'm following the right instructions before I start!

Hi there. You are correct in saying that you must first downgrade your ROM in order to root your phone. This explains that method.

However there are pre-rooted ROMS out there.. see here (that is if you want to stay on a 1.5 ROM). If not you will have to follow the goldcard method.

HTC Generic 2.73.771.73 (3 UK customised)

So you could flash that, but first you need to follow steps 2-5 from here

I say use my method first, then if that fails use the goldcard which is mentioned first.
