Rooting problem

I had trouble with rooting my Motorola Xoom 2. I was following this guide and double-checked everything. It was going OK till the first copying only. Then it said "failed to copy xyz to /data/local/xyz: permission denied", and this was the case with subsequent copies, too. At some cases it was complaining about a read-only file system. Finally it said "exploit complete", rebooted the device and quit. And I

Looking at the method I'm not sure why its not working other than maybe you have an updated system that will not allow this exploit to work. The other developer website doesn't even offer a forum for this device so I couldn't find anything there. I'll keep looking and see if I can find something newer for you.

I don't have your device, but i know when i rooted my phone you had to have (android debugging) checked in settings > development >android debugging. Also had to have unknown sources checked ,settings >applications>unknown sources.

Hope this helps, i know in our forum a lot of members would forget to check these on ,and that's why root access was denied. Just a thought. :)

Have you had a look on XDA Devs about rooting your Xoom? That's often a very good resource with the latest info for this kind of thing. Possibly there has been an update to the software which broke the rooting method you used, and nobody here on AF has encountered that problem yet. Was this phone supplied by a carrier and has carrier customised software, e.g. Verizon in the US, which could also make rooting more difficult.

Well, I’ve checked XDA and found this guide. Followed the ICS version, however, creadevandroid.com was dead, so I’ve downloaded the rooter pack from the link here.
It went through the rooting process and quit. This was about 10 minutes ago and I’m watching the Motorola logo with the water waves.
