Root Rooting Problems

Hey all, this is my first post here, and I am a complete noob to the whole rooting and phone modification scene.

My problem is about my Samsung Galaxy S (T Mobile). I rooted the phone phone using this tutorial: See next post, I cannot include links on first post.

The rooting tutorial I followed must have been messed up somehow because after I rooted I noticed that my android market was gone. That problem was fixed with a little googling, but then I noticed my home and search buttons do not work, and neither does my mobile data. By mobile data I mean the ability to use the 4G network to access the internet, WiFi works fine.

I am able to send text, call and receive calls and texts using the mobile network. Use packet data and data roaming are both checked. Whenever I go into the mobile network settings menu and hit network operators to search for available networks, it says error. However, when I select select automatically, it says I am registered on the network.

I read somewhere that the button problems may be able to be fixed by screwing with the system settings, such as backing up everything except them? I have no idea if that is plausible, but I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks,

Rhythmprince
