Rooting procedure

80yearold

Newbie
As I goggled I got the impression that the procedure was specific to the device. I recently purchased the latest Nook Tablet abd I want more control then one has out of the box. A word processor of some sort and perhaps an enhanced keyboard. So while the latter may not be a reality I would dearly love a step by step rooting this tablet. I know absolutely zip about android however I am somewhat of a Linux geek.
If there is a tutorial that gives a clearer understanding please point me in that direction as well.
Thanks in advance

Welcome and Rooting is specific to the device. From taking a quick glance at google I noticed that XDA has a root script for a Nook Tablet you have to verify that it's the same one. There are plenty of word processors to choose from in the app store. I have found it easy to guide myself by YouTube videos. I'm positive there are videos showing you how to do it as well. Good Luck :)

Android uses a Linux kernel and takes a lot of the same bash commands as a standard Linux distro, so you should feel right at home. A lot of root tutorials will also give you terminal commands, so again--very familiar territory.

But, yes, the instructions are device-specific. So just search for "how to root [name of device]" and you should get the instructions.
