Root Rooting question/s

Howdy all, i finally managed to sort myself out and just go with the rooting

I know the drill pretty much, but i have few questions still.

1. Is it possible to backup already installed programs/ games or i will need to reinstall everything again?

2. Is it possible to backup sms messages, contacts, hoghscores/ levels of already installed games etc, or it will all be gone when i do the root/ format sd card?

3. Is it possible to format sd card and make partitions without card reader?
