Rooting Question??

is there a way i can root my phone without losing the default market apps? like i rooted the phone before with cyanogen7 and went 2 fix market, then i couldnt find games like order and chaos and stuff... how can i keep the current android market game list with a rooted phone? and what is another good custom rom 2 use besides cyanogen that gives u the option for an install location?

The only thing that would affect which market app is installed is how up to date the firmware your installing is. For example if you flash CF-Root-KE2 you should have a different and much older version of the market than CF-Root-KI2. I think thats the difference your seeing.

CF-root is a kernel not firmware therefore it won't effect the market.
It could be CM7 that did it. The market may think you have a different device and some apps/games wont be available. I seem to recall when I had CM7 on my desire my PC thought it was a nexus one.

Not sure how you would get around this if it is the case, try asking on CM7 thread over on XDA (wouldn't hold your breath though they ignore most of the questions asked)
Or you could always use a different rom, based on samsung firmware.

Was only because my fresh from orange handset had the old market. After flashing cfroot it updated to new market. That was before flashing a custom rom.

It auto updates itself, usually after opening it for the first time. Sometimes it takes a bit longer but eventually it does.
