Root Rooting Question

Hi Friends,
My buddy has an LG Volt Android 4.4 on Boost Mobile. His PC can´t go online but his phone can. I told him that he was going to need to go online in order to download the appropriate drivers, but that is all he will need to download, right? I told him that the rooting process doesn´t require that you be online. Please correct me if I am wrong. His phone doesn´t have an SD card, but that doesn´t matter, right? Thanks in advance!
 
he can perform root via towelroot in many cases and can do it from the device. next he needs to install flashify from play store,download twrp recovery here at the forums. i suggest twrp 2.8.6 as it ia compatible with all of our roms. use flashify to flash twrp to the device then power off the device and boot in to recovery by holding power button and volume down until you see twrp appear. then promptly make a backup. Then pick a rom,mod stock rom,do what you like. but make that backup first! and yeah all of this can be done from the device. Visit root section for twrp download and the root guide.
 
Also I would get an sdcard for making the backup just because of the amount of space it will consume after being created and also to avoid accidental wiping of internal memory. But just performing root shouldnt need one.

click the towelroot icon to download app to phone. try this method first. most likely his device came shipped with zv3 which will alllow root without need of the pc method at all.
