I have never rooted any device, and as such I am scared to try it. But my mother has a phone running Android 4.0.4, and it won't allow her to install/run some apps she wants to use. Since I have the identical phone (Samsung SGH-S730M), and I am no longer using it, I thought I would root mine, and if it went perfectly I would root hers.
I would like to Root this phone to update it to 4.1? or 4.4? Or whatever a newer version of Android that could run on this device smoothly. I have looked into rooting this device before, but chickened out for fear of bricking the device, or not having all the drivers for things like the camera, wifi, or something.
I looked for the files I would need to download, and I think I found them, but with this not being a popular device I was leery. So I am asking here for working links, and step by step instructions to root the Samsung SGH-S730M to a newer Android OS, with the needed drivers. oh yeah... the USB port on the device is finicky.
