Rooting Sensation Xe

hi, I have read around different forums and I would like to root my sensation xe. Ive seen all the S-off, Root, Unlock bootloader etc which I understand. I would like to achieve permanent root and s-off. The problem comes in where ive read around, what do I do first? Root, S Off? Apologies if this has been solved elsewhere, but I've looked and cant find anything that makes sense.
Also a side question I understand in order to root you have to put a certain file on the memory card, does that mean I then have to use that same memory card in order to maintain root?

The best place to start is in the All Things Root section for your phone (I've already moved your thread in to the root section, so others who have your phone can offer help)... in fact, there's an All Things Root Guide sticky that is worth looking at

thanks man I appreciate it, do you know anything about the memory card though, would I still be able to swap them around even after putting that root file on one of them?
