Root Rooting T-Mobile Galaxy S3 SGH T999L doesn't work

I feel like I led you on a goose chase. I should have got all the info on your S3 instead of assuming similar to mine. The rule about assuming is correct.

I have been searching XDA and last known working root for t999l was for version nc1. Not looking good for nf4 but still looking. The last procedure you tried uses CF Auto root for t999. The difference between t999 and t999l is lte. You said you got pass and success flashing with Odin. Do you have SuperSu app in app drawer? If so click on it and see if you get prompt to update binary.

I do not have SuperSu installed.

I just executed the procedure exactly as they
specified, installed the Check Root they
specified, observed that it had not worked
like they said it should have.

Then I stopped, And I came here to the forum
and reported back.

I sent the person at NasirTeck a message but
so far I have not received a\ reply.

This reply is from an earlier post in this thread.
Could something like this be going on?

The file I just installed with ODIN, is the installed
file even there? Is there a way to check?

=====

This was a result of /system/etc/install-recovery.sh

The stock system overwrites cwm/twrp with the stock recovery on every boot. You skipped the reboot step preventing the recovery from getting overwritten and your recovery should disable that part off the script.

Not sure. I checked the tar file name you used against the one success I found and linked above with what listed on CF Auto root site for the t999. Name is correct. Would have to download all 3 to check file size to see if match.
Still looking.

I've used CF Auto root before and if successful it installed SuperSu as a system app and everything fine. NF4 a tuff nut to crack.

The supplier of the NF4 procedure has not replied yet.
I contacted him via the forum he is on but of course
that may not be the correct way to contact him.

I will look into the XDA link above.

I UNINSTALLED SUPERSU, ROOT CHECK, and TOWEL ROOT
and started over.

The CHAINFIRE link says the MD5 file procedure will install SUPER.
It did not. SUPERSU isn't even in the ZIP file unless it is hidden somewhere.

The link says I might have to manually boot into RECOVEERY.
Where in the procedure would I do it?

The procedure says ODIN 1.85, but the ZIP contains 3.07.

My bullet file should have been attached but the system says
an UPLOADING ERROR occurred 3 times..

I am opening and uploading procedure_naisteck.txt
but the forum thinks it is procedure=naisteck.txt.

What should I do?

I would download the tar file from CF site and flash with Odin. If phone reboots normal, after pass, pull battery and wait a few. Replace battery and boot into recovery using the button combo, volume up +home+power. Since CF file modifies the stock recovery, when you boot into recovery and select option from there to reboot phone, you may be prompted to keep modified recovery and thus keep root. Its been awhile since I used this method and I honestly don't remember but its worth a shot. I would use Odin v3.07

Unrooted mine, factory reset. Used CF Auto root tar file for my i747,flashed with Odin v3.07. Phone rebooted normal. Got pass and unplugged usb. Pulled battery and waited. Replaced battery and booted into recovery. Reboot phone from recovery. SuperSu present. Everything updating now. Also noted no longer Plilz touch recovery. Got stock back

Stupid questions but:

By CF do you mean CHAINFIRE?

What is CF Auto root tar file, If you mean the CHAINFIRE download it is MD5.

Also noted no longer PLILZ touch recovery. Got stock back.

Was installing PLILZ part of these steps?

How will you verify you are still ROOTED?

I download the tar file (md5) from CF AUTO Root site I linked to earlier. The download is a zip file. When you extract the files one of them is md5 tar. That is what you flash in Odin. Look down the list of phones till you find sgh t999. On that line is the download for the zip.

After I signed back into Google, because I factory reset, all my apps downloaded and updated. Found Supersu and opened it. Got prompt to update binary. Binary updated successful. installed Busybox. Checked with root checker, root successful, busy box successful busy. Note,Supersu was already installed because root worked. Just had to wait till everything else updated.

I booted back into download mode and flashed Plilz touch recovery md5 tar with Odin. Samething, phone Rebooted, got pass from Odin. Unplugged phone and pulled battery. Replaced battery and booted into recovery with button combo. Plilz touch recovery.

Sorry I'm a one finger hunt and peck typer on my tablet.

No, flashing Rom will be a breeze compared to this. Your next step will be one that I usually do in the beginning, learning to do Nv items backup. You had already started when I found your post.

I already have that file. And the one provided by the NASIRTRECH POST and
the one CHAINFILE are identical.

I will inventory my updated procedure first and add your suggestions before I start.

I will repeat the procedure tomorrow,
but the first time through, after running
ODIN and installing the TAR.MD5,

I pulled the battery and re-installed.

I manually booted recovery.

Android System Recovery appeared.

I rebooted with a RECOVERY command.

KEEP MODIFIED RECOVERY AND ROOT
DID NOT APPEAR.

The phone booted into NORMAL mode.

SuperSU is NOT installed.

I will upload my BULLET file after I have
looked it over for your scrutiny(sp).
