Root Rooting the Stellar

Afternoon all,

So i'm interested in rooting my stellar. I'm new here, and I'm pretty much fresh when it comes to phone tech. However, I've read up on rooting and I have also messed around with rooted phones..so this seems like something id like to do.

I've found a few threads on rooting the Stellar, but they didn't seem current and/or had broken links. Can someone point me in the right direction? Im open to any suggestions and would like to learn more about what to do after rooting as well (theme customizing, ROMS, what protective apps to DL)

1)Revert back to ICS using one-click here (this will wipe internal storage)
2)Accept all of vzw's updates all the way to the new ME1
3)Flash ME1 one-click here to root it

Remember to flash them in download mode using (Power Button + Volume Down)

I'm pretty new to this. When I take it back to ICS that's not detrimental to my stuff is it?

Acronym: ME1 (?)
