rooting

So, my previous tablet, running Android 4, I had to root it to get the time to reset via GPS. Later it refused to update and said something to the effect that something or other was compromised. I used Kingo root. What's the good word on this? Should I root my Tab a7? Using what? Will there be upgrade trouble?

not sure what exact model you have but i found this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...4-unlock-bootloader-root-with-magisk.4185993/

do not use kingo root. magisk is much better and rooting is not as easy as it used to be with kingo root.....so please read as much as possible before attempting to root.

as far as should you? that's up to you. i have a tab a 8" and i only use it for certain things and see no reason to root it.

and upgrade trouble? you can just flash a firmware update to unroot the tablet, but rooting will trip knox. so if you turn it in for service or for an upgrade, they will know it was rooted at some point.

Quite frankly I've only read bad things about Kingo Root, like it may brick devices, and that it's spyware and adware. But since Android 6 those sort of compromise exploit root tools no longer work, and the Chinese devs no longer maintain it. If a Tab a7 can be rooted or not, no idea, except maybe check XDA Devs and see if there's any rooting and support information there? Keeping in mind, No devs = no fun.
