Root Rooting

Seriously considering rooting my phone what are the major pros and cons

If you don't know the pros and don't have a reason for rooting, why would you want to root (and theoretically risk bricking your phone for nothing)?

Other than that, the friendly people in the Razr - All Things Root forum up top would know and have already written plenty about this.

The major advantage of rooting is the ability to freeze unneeded bloatware. Doing this will save loads of battery.

Another advantage is backing your stuff up and using root apps like DroidWall, AdFree etc.

The main reasons i always root are.

Freeze unwanted bloat
The ability to backup more of my data
Screenshot capabilities for phones that don't have that feature stock.

Just remember that it's consider Theft of Service though and isn't allowed to be discussed here at AF (per the owner of the site).
