rooting

dont pay someone when you can do it yourself for free. Do you have the i777 or the skyrocket?

nyy, I am intrigued. I am a "Droid for Dummies" type. Is there an explicit, detailed, yet simple, step-by-step instruction list on this site? I apologize if I missed it. I am not even certain I need or want to root because the access may be more than I need as I purchased the large data plan and can acces everything I need so far. So my second question is what larger-than-life benefit is there in rooting?

if you dont think you want to root, then dont root. Rooting, in itself, doesnt do anything for you except unlock the ability for you to screw up your phone. If you have a legit reason, then go for it. Otherwise, dont touch your phone and enjoy it the way it sits, now. If you want to root, it will allow you to debloat your phone and it also allows you to flash custom roms but otherwise, thats it. if you like the phone the way it is now, leave it.

Couldn't agree more. I rooted because I wanted to de-bloat my phone. Keeps apps like AP mobile from running wild.

Also you should read up on how to root and unroot the phone before doing anything. Sure you can pay someong $40 to root the phone but if something happens you might be paying a whole lot more to get it fixed.
