Route 66 Navigation = Battery Destroyer

So i downloaded the Route 66 Nav app on my EVO 3D yesterday. Its pretty awesome, with just one problem... It kills my battery more than any other app I've ever had ever. Today my battery went from full to 11% in about 4 hours, with only minimal use (was on a plane for most of the morning). I checked and discovered the app was using 83% of my battery, with no option to force close. I had to uninstall for my battery life to go back to normal. Anyone else have this issue?

On a plane you're covering territory like crazy. So your satnav app is cascading one map tile after another, plus data, down to your phone. Small wonder that eats into your battery bigtime. (Not to mention your dataplan!)

Why do you have satnav on in a plane anyway? You can't go left at the next junction...

If you go on a road trip and plot your route before you leave, while you're still on a WiFi net, the app will download all the necessary map tiles and data, and allow even for detours, to your device. You can then switch to airplane mode (no connections) and drive the whole route with the proper turn-by-turn directions and maps for that route. It doesn't need to download anything anymore.
Of course in a car you have the device on a charger so battery life isn't an issue anyway!

Yes, for a navigation app is this normal.

I had CoPilot for car navigation and now I use Navigon.
Both are very good nav apps but I have to use a car charger in the car when I want you use the navigation for more than two hours.
