RPG Recommendation

Hi all,

Can anyine recommend a simple easy (ish) turn based rpg to get me into the genre.
I've always loved hack and slash, such as Oblivion, Skyrim on my consoles but have never managed to get into turn based. Would like to give it another go to help while away the hours on long night shifts

Questlord is a pretty good one. Simple to navigate and turn based fight system. $2 on the playstore. Give it a shot maybe

Final fantasy is a good start.

Kemco has tons of turn based RPGs and there all on sale right now for $1 each.

Knights of Pen and Paper is a fun little game that takes elements of classic D&D nights and puts it into a traditional RPG game.

Shameless plug time! You should check out Mapsaurus. It's an app/game recommendation engine that lets you explore an related apps/games. It's a great way to find games similar to what you already play.

I personally love Andor's Trail. It's an open-source rogue-like RPG.

Pixel Dungeon is also great... but really hard (and permadeath!)

There's a Gurk III Beta!

Andor's Trail is another great one, and an update is (hopefully) expected in the next few months.

Here's a few more suggestions that I've personally played and loved.
Tales of Illyria - $3.95 for the "early access" version. Great story (lot of reading), turn based battles, described as a mix of Oregon's Trail, choose your own adventure books, and D&D and I'd say that's accurate.

Knights of Pen & Paper - $1.99. Basically takes the experience of playing a sit-at-a-table pen and paper D&D type game and puts it into a phone game. Good replay value on this one too since you can choose different combinations of players and characters.

Bard's Tale - $2.99 (50% off price). This one's an action RPG. There's some IAP options to get items and talents faster and I personally was happy to buy them, it's still less than you'd pay for a console game, and imo more fun to play.

Yesterday -$2.49 (50% off price). Best way to describe it would be it's a detective-RPG where you have to figure out clues and has an interesting story. Pretty dark stuff though, not for small kids.

Puzzle Quest 2 - free for trial area, then $4.99 to unlock the full game with all characters. It's an RPG where the battles are done as puzzles to unlock attacks or spells.

Cthulhu Saves the World - $1.99. Very fun and with good humor.

Just found a free and smallish (as for file size, it's only 539k) game called Gailardia which might be worth checking out. It's simple and turnbased, and pretty addicting too, if you don't mind the simple Japanese style graphics.

And I'm personally looking for more of these small and free games, are there any more turnbased RPG games that are free and not more than 10 mb in size to download?

Try Andor's Trail. It's not complete yet but still plenty to play through already, and is free (and no ads or IAP) and under 10MB in size.
