rugby vs American football (or as you yanks would call it, football)

I didn't see any references to a Zulu Warrior??

Heeeeyyyy Zulu Warrior, heeeeeyyy Zulu Warrior!! :D

I played for several years. Hooligans sport played by gentlemen. ;)

Here's to The Breezes... :D

YEEEESSS!!!

That is SO true ek se! :)

It is such a Hooligans sport but played by absolute angels like ME! :)

YEAH! :D

And WOW I also remember I gave myself quite the HECTIC concussion ek se! :)

I saw double!!! :D

bwhehehehehehe!

Hit "Da G" so hard he lost the ball!!! :D:D

(Yeah I know I am scum! :))

Everything started swirling even my English teachers screaming head when he was screaming his lungs out at me!! :)

And HELL YES I think American Foot Ball (Rugby 0.5) is a wimps game! :)

That game is for wimps! :)

Awesome thread ek se! :)

Now rugby rounders(or baseball) is a great sport :-P

Play with bases, can either have a bowler and kicker(batsman) can either kick it straight away or catch then kick it(younger kids can always catch and throw the ball) get people out by either touching the base before they get their or if younger, get the ball back to the bowler in a central base.if older....smash them in the face with the ball can also get them out ;-)

Rolf.... rugby golf!

Get a starting point...look at a finishing point and either set a target(par) or just see how many you take and winner is the least kicks(or throws, or mixture depending on the age group) then set a new target....targets can be big(between two trees) or small and specific(kick the ball to hit the cross bar) next kick is always taken from where the ball stops :-)

Rugby dodge ball..... just replace with rugby balls....if it's a tough group, introduce kicking of the ball too ;-)

Rugby football..... Play soccer rules but with a rugby ball

Hawick ball....netball rules using a rugby ball and basketball nets, can make it harder by making people bounce the ball(it's egg shaped remember!) Or make it into more touch rugby rules but allow forward passes and keep target as the net!

Rugby tennis.....best as a large group, kicking over a net(or a designated height/area) into a coned off square that players are standing in...then use dodgeball rules(catch bring player in/them out, drop your out) or points rules(catch is one point etc etc etc) rules again change to suit group points for making others miss
or points for catching :-)

Anyway enough off topic stuff showing you why rugby is better as it's more versatile ;-)

:)

Well well well my oh my!

:D

Well sntaylor!! :D

I did not realise before that you are a Scotsman! :D

You DO realise that we recently wasted you and your weirdo kilt wearing wackos right? ;)

You guys got OWNED bruizer!

You got owned man!

30 - 17 can you believe it? ...

:D

Well hell ja I most certainly can!!!! :D

:)

:)

:)

bwhahahahaa!

whahaha!

You guys need to learn from 1 of the best (more than likely THE BEST) World Champions! :D

BBC Sport - South Africa 30-17 Scotland

hahaha!

What a shame!

Owned! :D

I'd agree if we hadn't been infront until the last 60 or so :-(unfortunately it's the last few minutes that makes the difference :-(

Besides we had many many injuries...I mean come on we went through three stand offs! Lol

Ach south Africa deserved the win, but at least we didn't make a complete mockery of ourselves this time!

Ahh shame man I think you guys played extremely well actually! :)

I actually really like Scotland our family is very Scottish! :)

And hell yes I definitely agree with you!

Sadly you guys had quite a load of injuries and also bear in mind we are like the extreme world champions in Rugby, everyone is crazy about sports here! :)

Rugby is like a freaking Religion here! :)

If you don't "believe" or "play" then you are a "Satanist" and you are "against" God's "will"! :D

whahahahaa! :D

KAK funny! :D

hehehe! :D

cracks me up everytime!

xD

And as another extremely important point... your popultaion is also much smaller than ours hey... this may not "seem" like a big issue if 1 does not think or understand but it seriously is!

That is an extremely important factor, not just the culture and vibe of the place.

I think you guys are only 4 - 5 or so million or something right?

That sounds about right I think?

Remember we have a very big population like TEN times yours or in other words 50 million give or take!

But I really like the Scottish side and it was a actually a really really good game for a slightly smallish team. (but never at heart!)

Very very good team and you played extremely well despite all your previous injuries.

I mean come on we are world famous for being like obsessed and deranged lovers of rugby.

xD

I think you guys did freaking awesome. You can hold your heads up high, your team is actually very very good.

And sometimes we freaking suck it is so scary!

:-D

hehehe! :D

xD

I also really like the Welsh side, VERY VERY good forwards... espicailly their front row or tight 3!

Very good at the scrum.

I have always liked Scotland, they have good manners. This may not seem like abig deal but I realy freaking HATE it when the other team starts to bend and break the rules.

They are a gentleman's team.

I mean come on... you have got to tell me if you ever played against a school and then that school you start playing against breaks all the ******* rulse then it is no longer rugby.

If you do not follow the rules then just don't play.

Simple... as... that.

Why play something if you refuse to follow the rules?

(And yes you guessed it when some one does not play by the rules it does seriously piss me off! Thanks! :))

And yes you have seriously guessed it... I cannot emphasise nearly enough of how much it seriously pisses me off if some one does not follow the rules in a game...

I am not talking about "laws" or other rules... I am talking about the simple basic easy fact that if you can't even follow rules in a ******* game then I have no idea of what to say to you because if you can't even follow those rules then I don't even know how you will ever be able to follow basic rules in society today...

anyway...

may heaven help you because no one else can! :)

Lmao stinky :-)

Yep our population is in the 4 to 6 mil category, and football(soccer) is our main sport so even harder....and we have boys away to the lions and even more injured, but we should still be capable of pounding above our weight.Lol....being Scottish you get used to losing! We do often punch above ourselves, and you guys did field a weaker side too I believe? Anyway, Scotland to win the world cup 2015 :-P

We have some cracking talent coming up, look out for a boy I briefly coached, Mark Bennett he has some real potential!

We will get you in your own turf....same as New Zealand, just don't know when :-P

Ohh it was by no means or "weaker side" hey!

;-)

Do you remember when in the 2nd half when Bismark du Plessis AND his brother Jannie except Beast came on?

Do you remember?

:-)

Those dangerous 3 are famous for being the world's front row.

Tendai (The Beast) did not get that name for no reason! :D

Sheesh I would be scared against that guy too!

He is crazy!

Bismark and Jannie were there... because you guys were handing our arses to us in the 1st half (you were SO owning us! Seriously Well Done to the Scotts! :-)) we had no other choice but in the end to basically put on the A team.

That was pretty much the A team in the end!

In the end it was the number 1 you were playing against... pretty much 90% of it all give or take of the A team in the world.

I am not surprised you guys started to struggle a bit in the end.

So HELL NO! :-)

You guys in your skirts did extremely well!

Not shabby at all mate!

Not shabby 1 bit my friend!!!

:-)

We had to bring out the big guns out in the end because you were kicking Spring Buck Bacon all over the place in the 1st half!

:-)

It was actually a very exciting game all round.

So seriously well done!!! :-)

It's always nice to see the smaller team beat up the freaking huge 1 actually, it reminds people that anything is possible!

;-)

When I played we had a foreign player transfer over from Tonga.

Havi wasn't very big, or fast, but he was a rugby god! :D

Dood was one of the most brutal talented gentlemen I've ever met. I dearly miss Havi. :(

All Hail Granite1 not Asimov!!! :)

Ja!

Those oaks are actually pretty good!

They are a bit dirty though... ;)

And speaking of Tonga... we WON against Tong's next door neighbours... Samoa! :)

We WASTED em ek se! :D:D:D

Mwhahahahaa!

>:-)

Troll laugh: hehehe! :D

The 1 dork lord got a red card (sent off the field bruizer! :D) for doing a clothes line in the neck (very very bad and frowned upon and rightfully so... you can seriously injure or worse... paralyze etc) at high speed against our captain Juan!

He won't off for being a scum bucket! :)

56 to the Chosen Ones! :)

A measly 23 to the... "rabble".... (Samoa. :D)

We are the champions ek se!

:D

We are the ONES!

American football has too many stops in play and the body armor is just lame.

I've tried watching, but I just don't get it.

So I guess my vote is for Rugby. :D

NFL players are bigger, faster, stronger.
If the NFL didn't use pads someone would die or become seriously hurt every game.
Not to mention the games aren't even really that comparable.

In Rugby, you're not allowed to hit the guy who is trying to make a tackle. You are in (North) American football. It's called blocking.

Some of them are bigger, just like some of the rugby guys are also bigger than American footballers!

Biggest difference is really in the tackle area, rugby has safety rules which try to prevent dangerous tackles, many that are legal in nfl

The other point is that rugby doesn't stop with the same regularity and plays last longer without as many changes as nfl. Anyway, here's another guide...which I disagree with as a back! Lol

Why Rugby has backs - Explained at last

Maybe my rugby coach should have put me as a back. I was the smallest guy on the team and I had no idea what I was doing. My friend convinced me to play rugby because he said it was like football. He lied.
