Rumors and Speculation on Features and Specifications

LOL I wish I knew if the next Nexus is really coming to Sprint. That would make my choice easier.

Honestly, with Verizon not jumping on board with the SGS2 and the rumors about Samsung making the next Nexus phone (that have all but been confirmed), it really looks like it will go to Verizon. This would make sense, although make me sad that those blood sucking leaches get anything.

I will definitely be getting this phone and if I miss out on the Nexus phone then so be it. I am sure this will get an update to Ice Cream Sandwich Q1 next year, if the Nexus really is released in October this year.

From what I know..... The WSJ article claiming that the iPhone is coming to sprint was erroneous.

You will need to provide at least two sources to back up your claim. The WSJ does at least that when it publishes sources without attribution.

Additionally, that same WSJ reporter correctly broke the story that Verizon was getting the iPhone and what month the release was set for.

Maybe you should keep your movies on separate cards? What else are you putting in there? Microsoft Office 2010?

I have 65 GBs in Ps1 games alone not to mention other games music and movies .

Don't understand why more people are not into more storage space. The more the better IMO.

Check out SDXc cards sometime they show that there is potential of up to 2 TBs in mobile storage

Plus it is not practical to be swapping SD cards....I get by using FTP and various streaming apps such as subsonic

The Nexus will be on several carriers. They wouldn't make it new and only to Verizon after finally pushing it to other carriers like Sprint. The only question and worry anyone should have is will it be out the same time on several carriers, or will there be a delay like when Sprint got the NS4G. Do you realize how big of a fail that would be if the Nexus 3 would only be for Big Red?!

Anyways, this Epic Touch 4G is pretty sweet. I told myself I wouldn't get it but I guess I will have to add this along side my NS4G. Knowing my NS4G will get IC it will hold me until the N3 comes out and I will get that as well. I'm sure the mod community will share love with the US versions of the SGSII like they are doing with the UK version. I know there will be ports of IC and Sammy will update it. I'm just curious to see IC in action and see how OEMS will slap their skin on it. It would just make it harder. Imagine Sammy getting rid of the skin for a stock IC for their SGSII and then remaking their skin for the SG3 next year. I can dream huh?

Notes:

I really like this phone! I think they did a great Job and Sprints changes seem subtle and good.. I like the little things.. Like a damn notification light. Glad to see Sprint's got one. And the largest battery of the SGS2's. This thing is almost sold, to me! Need to know 2 things...

Does anyone know what the actual phone dimensions are compared to the original SGS2? (not screen... but entire phone.) Also, is DLNA support confirmed for the Sprint version?

(sorry if this is posted, believe it or not, I did look around a bit.)

Thanks in advance! :)

I don't need to provide anything.... It may be true... May not be.

As far as I know, the WSJ simply said that their info was from sources familiar with the situation.

All I will say is that what I am hearing comes from someone high in sprint. This person did not say what was erroneous .... Such as sprint is not getting it at all ... Or not in September... Or what.

Like I said... May be true ... May not.

Take it for what it is.

Actually they told me that to their knowledge it would not release on the 9th.... But did not know 100%.

I need to clarify my statement. I am not saying that the iPhone will not come to sprint.

What I am saying is that I was told that the WSJ report was incorrect. I was not told in what context. Maybe no iPhone at all... Maybe not an October release..... I don't know for sure.

I don't know about dimensions, but DLNA is confirmed. In the youtube video below, at 1:53 in the video when he's looking through the app drawer (top left corner of the app drawer), you'll see the allshare app pre installed... which is an app that connects your phone to your TV via DLNA.

The sprint version is slightly thicker than the european. 9.59mm for sprint and 8.49mm on the european. Sprint weigh 4.5oz vs 4.0oz EU

only 1mm... I can definitely live with that for a bigger screen, WiMax radio, bigger battery, and notification light!

Thanks for the info.

Has anyone seen any evidence that their will be a FM radio tuner (or whatever its called) built into the phone?

What are the chances that Samsung just upgraded the specs of the battery without changing the dimensions of the battery? I jumped the gun and bought extra batteries and a charger for the original SGS2. Do you think I will have to re-Ebay them? I can't find ANY information about this yet.

There's only one issue I have with this phone....not enough videos on it lol! I keep looking at the same ones and even the At&t version because it's not much different from ours. Long overdue but still it was worth the wait. I have to add this along side my Nexus S4G. Samsung is the best innovative thing to introduce itself to Android. Power in a sexy ass form factor. Neat features with a much better looking TouchWiz.

Update: Just went to check my account on Sprint and I have an upgrade! I used that to get the NS4G when it came out. Ever since I bought that phone I have been a Gold member and my job gives me a 25% discount on my bill so I benefit off that. For whatever reason I still have an upgrade. When I go to SHOP online it says my phone number and has the $150.00 upgrade beside it. I wonder if I should use it on SGSII Epic Touch 4G or buy it flat out and wait to use the upgrade on the Nexus 3. I know Google has to push that out to carriers who have a current one.

Or wait and see if the Samsung Note is coming to Sprint ;-)

I found some websites that say the specs include FM Radio:

The usual run-of-the-mill features like Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 3.0+HS, microSD card slot, FM radio, GPS with A-GPS, MHL port and a 3.5mm audio jack are also present, along with a bunch of sensors. The Epic 4G Touch will also come with AES-256 internal/external hardware encryption and Wi-Fi calling. The handset also supports Sprint
