Running Android Device off SD card?

Is it capable? And why or why not to run on it?

HTC Evo 4G Design 1.2Ghz single core. Also not sure how to find if it supports SDXC slot... doubt it but if someone can verify. Or a class 10 SDHC card vs running on system.

What do you mean "running off sd"? You can't move the kernel, firmware or ROM. There are hacks to move part or all of the apps & data to sd on a rooted phone, but unless your device is critically short of space I'd not want to move the lot to a less reliable device (I've used scripts that move user apks, even dalvik, but never been tempted to move all data, and that on a device which only had 147MB internal storage as sold).

Yes, it is possible. This method is known as Dual Booting. Would require you modify some files with in the ramdisk of your boot.img, as well as taking an sdcard that you currently aren't concerned if the stuff on it gets wiped out - because you will need to repartition it.

Here is a guide which I made up for my K2_CL variant. The method for you people over here would be very similar. I have noticed some talented devs over here so I'm sure one could easily adapt my guide to this device.
