Help Running different operating system on galaxy s3

Hey guys i am new to the whole android thing and one of my friends was telling me that it was possible to run a different operating system on the galaxy s3 and i was wondering if their was any truth to this. If there is can you explain it and as an example would it be possible to run Apple iOS 6 on the phone?

You cannot run a different OS on an android device, is was meant solely for android. You can put on different ROM's though, which are versions of android with different tweaks in performance and more customization.

Otherwise, i am moving this thread into the Galaxy S3 forum.

There was a hack however to run android on an Apple 4S phone though. Saw a whole website dedicated to it.

Android is meant to be a portable operating system and to run on many devices. Apple's OS is strictly maintained by Apple and only runs on their hardware. Apple OS is a closed OS while Android is an Open one.

It's apparently possible to run Linux on the gs3. I haven't tried to though.
How To Run Ubuntu Linux On Samsung Galaxy S3

I can confirm this works. It also worked in my old HTC desire btw. I was hoping the hardware if the s3 would allow a better performance in unity but it didn't. I haven't tried it since summer though. It doesn't install btw. Its just an .img file you mount within android then VNC onto it. Its a bit like a virtual machine in a sense

I'm guessing any scheme to run iOS on an Android device would make use of a VNC/virtual machine setup. Unless you have a lot of computing horsepower, this usually equates to sluggish performance.

I don't know if anyone's come up with a MIUI ROM for the S3- that would give you a look very similar to iOS. There are some launchers like GoLauncher that also offer themes that mimic iOS.

There are a couple of MIUI roms for the SG3, not used one myself.

Did have MIUI on SGS for a while with the iPhone theme, kind of freaks people out, but it soon got boring.
