Running your phone in ART instead of Dalvik

Has anyone else tried this out?

I tried switching to ART and everything seemed fine and working until I went to take a picture and I got "Warning: Camera Failed".

I tried a few things to get the camera working again to no avail, then I switched back to Dalvik hoping it would resolve the issue. Nope. Camera still didn't work.

The camera was working perfectly before I tried to switch so I'm not sure what happened. But if you're looking to try it out, I would try at your own risk! Luckily I was able to go to AT&T and they exchanged the phone. (I didn't tell them I ran ART), but I did let them know the camera issue was a known problem and they knew of the problem as well.

Anyway, just adding in my tidbit of info! I'm loving my phone right now. Battery isn't as good as I thought it would be, but damn, this phone is pretty damn quick! :D:D

If you Clear the cache and data on the camera in application manager, that should fix it. I had the same issue but it was with another app.

Just keep in mind that if you do switch your runtime to ART the device status will change from Official to modified and you will not be able to install OTA's until you switch back.

Yeah, I went into the settings to clear the data and the cache files but it didn't help. Honestly I don't think I'll be trying to run the phone in ART anymore, just in case haha!

Once android L is released we will all be using ART anyways and by that time all applications should work great with it.

True, just gotta see which carriers are going to be updating their handsets first. Mine being with AT&T I hope it doesn't take them too long after the release.
