Runs hot after ZVE update

I updated my wife's Esteem Monday and couldn't see any difference right away. But today it started turning off after it loads and shows the home screen. When I looked at it I noticed it was warmer than normal. I took the battery out to let it cool. Put it back together and started to get hot again just checking email and things like that. After heavy debating with myself I did the factory reset. Luckily the phone just finished before getting overheated and shut down. After cooling I tried again and within 10 mins it shut down again. Has anyone else have this problem and what can be done? I'm not rooted and just loaded gmail and Netflix no other apps yet.
 
i had the same problem all most 6 months ago.the phone was plugged in for the night and when i woke up i picked it up to turn it on and it was so hot i dropped it.i unplugged it and let it cool off.after cooling off i tried to turn it on and it kept coming on and shutting off.i have the extented battery and thought that was bad so i reinstalled the factory battery and still no difference.for some reason i removed the sd card and it was hot,i replaced it with a older sd card i had and the phone started working fine.the card was a kingston and i bought a sandisk and the phone has been fine since then.the kingston was about 6 months old and the sandisk is almost 6 months old if it does it again i'll have to believe the esteem has a problem because my daughters done the same thing.i'll post if it does it again but i have not heard of any problems like this.check your sd card and see if it helps.
 
The same experience here. I have a spare phone so I updated to the latest firmware for testing. Charging it in a car I noticed being hotter than normal. Don't think I will update my regular phone to zve. :rolleyes:
 
After the factory reset I thought maybe too much running in the background. Nope. After reinstalling 2 apps it took its final breath. Now it just flashes the LG logo and shuts off and not even warm. Well I went to the membership and I told them that After the mandatory s/w update the phone died. Since the warranty expired to call LG. LG doesnt even know about the tmo/mpcs merger or s/w update to go to mpcs. After beginning to get louder they brought out from the super secret backroom, the "geek". He asked a few questions, plugged my Esteem into the computer and within a few minutes said they could replace my phone for $16.39 s&h but since its warranty expired there was no warrenty. Who cares the esteem is back in 3 days. Now I've been thinking to upgrade and sell the Esteem w/o any time used. What do yahoo think? What's it worth on craigslist sf/bay area?
 
I believe i just ran across your ad on craigslist. i was wondering how/why someone would hold onto a brand new esteem that long. it's too bad it wasn't listed at 60. :(
