Help Runs show and sluggish

My home screen refreshes a lot and everything just seems to run slower for me. Swiping my friend widget isn't as smooth as gb was. When i press home all i see is the wallpaper often and then takes about 5 seconds for all apps and widgets to show up. I have it set up basically the same as i had it on gb but didn't have these issues. I'm not complaining i love ics. Has anyone else had these issues?

My Razr is not smooth anymore either. I've had ICS since Thursday morning. I cycled the phone on and off at least a dozen times, deleted and reinstalled apps, and even did a complete factory reset. NOTHING has helped mine. So far I'm not impressed with ICS at all. GB was a lot smoother.

Idk what is wrong with all your guys phones. The only time mine was slow was for the first 5 minutes until it all got settled in. Mine has been way smoother than gb. Try booting into recovery and wiping data and cache. Just to be sure an actually factory reset is done

I remember wiping my phone but i don't know if i wiped cache. would that matter? I also used titanium and reinstalled about twenty apps plus data. Would any of that be a factor?
Hmmm i don't know if i have even power cycled it more than once.

I have to agree with some of the above posts. Mine lagged before ICS. I hoped ICS would make it smoother like it did to my Asus Tablet. But it didn't. It's a lot worse now. You can easily tell. Some apps, takes actually a few seconds to start. Before, it launched a lot faster.

Again, I haven't installed a ton of apps. I don't have Live Wallpapers running. It's still laggy, which bothers me.

I'll do what everyone has suggest and reboot a few times and see what happens.

mine was sluggish the first night on ICS, but a reset the next day fixed it. still maybe not quite a smooth/responsive as Go Launcher was on GB, but very close, and again, not what i'd call sluggish now.

To everyone who is saying its slow and laggy do a factory reset. Guarantee it will make it better

what kind of 'guarantee' are you offering? lol some of these people have done a reset, and are still experiencing slow/laggy interfaces.

the reset DID seem to help my phone, but as with all problems i read about on this forum, everyone's phone seem to react differently.

All I know is I started on a clean phone. I got a replacement from verizon and the very first thing I did was side load ics. And it works perfectly. So I'm willing to bet that if these people actually do a reset, and then wipe cache once or twice in recovery it will work better. The last person who said they were having a bunch of force close issues and texting issues and just plain it being slow said after they did a factory reset it was working perfectly. Just a suggestion

Gb stock launcher was fine for me not sluggish at all. I'll factory reset tonight and see if it does any better

I had the same issue, I have had to do 2 hard resets after installing. Even wiping cache and data I was very sluggish. I found my problem was the Avast anti virus on the phone. I uninstalled that and it was much better. I have to say though, it isn't anywhere near as "snappy" as it once was.

Go into Recovery mode and clear cache. Should fix it.

Turn phone off.

While off, press and hold both volume keys and power on phone.

Press volume key down to highlight recovery and then press volume key up to boot into recovery. Then you will see android icon with triangle.

Press both volume keys.

Choose clear cache partition using down volume and press power button to clear cache.

Highlight reboot / restart and press power and your phone will reboot.

I did it before and after ICS update. No lag, and everything went smooth. I generally clear the cache out that way about once a month.

When I held down power and volume down all I saw was a bright white light at the bottom. No choice to select anything. When i release it starts up again. How long do I hold it for?

Mine was fast from the start however I followed your procedure and now it's even faster. Made a very visible difference in speed. Thanks for posting.:)

Mine lagged immediately after the update, I just did a "battery-pull"/soft reset and it worked perfect, best part is I didn't have to got through the hassle of wiping my phone.

It may be considered a hassle, but a factory data reset is a very good idea after a major OS update. Think of it along the same lines as getting an oil change for your phone. It is wiping out old settings and cache so that the new information can be written properly. Gingerbread to ICS was a major change in the way your phone and the way to operates. A full reset can prevent problems now as well as future problems down the road. There is a reason developers recommend a full wipe when you install a new ROM.

is this equivalent to a reset....does it wipe the phone entirely?

thanks.

I initially found ICS a bit slower compared to GB. Even after wiping the cache and a factory reset. It wasn't as snappy as GB had been.

Then I realized ICS has built in window animations that give it the appearance of being slower. These can be reduced or turned off under Settings - Developer Options- Window animations and Transition Animations.

I set both to Off, and most selections are snappier.
