S-Beam doesn't work with case?

I ordered one of the "metalic" replacement backs for my S3 and noticed that S-Beam does not work when it is on, I figure the signal is being blocked.

Does anyone have a case on theirs and does S-Beam still work?

Is this why the official Samsung cases are "mesh" so the signal will still go thru?
