Root S-off and Rooting a new (used) dinc2

I have a new (used) dinc2 that I'd like to root. Not sure why, but this phone has software version 4.08.605.3 All the root guides start with software 6.x or 5.x Does having 4.x matter?

Dude. You are totally stoked. I think you have a phone that doesn't need to be downgraded. Just root it.

you can verify by checkig your hboot version. if its still .97,youre good to go with the link provided by bberry. if its .98 youll still need to downgrade

Thanks guys. I couldn't wait and went ahead and rooted the phone last evening. Everything went smoothly and I now have S-off and rooted. Let the flashing begin!
