Help S pen alert not working?

So beginning my journey to learn about my S pen
So first things, I don't want to loose the pen.
BUT I have set up the alert but nothing happens when I walk away from the S pen with my Note2 in my hand.
Help please

Its motion based (i.e. you can stand in place and just shake the phone to activate the alert, as well as walk 20ft away), and the screen must be off/phone locked, in order to trigger the alert.

The alert will also go off if you leave the pen out of its dock without using either it or the phone for a while.

Thanks for those tips.
Finally got an alert to work by shaking the phone having left the S pen in another room.
Frankly I am disappointed (my first disappointment with the GN2)
This is just not sensitive enough to do the job properly.

The system does say that results may vary from person to person. That said, which pen systems have actual proximity sensors that work better?

You stated that you were disappointed in the features performance. Given that the original Note lacked this feature, and the Note 2's price point is relatively similar, I was curious as to the performance of alternatives you are comparing against? I would think they would not be cost feasible.

Hopefully one is allowed in these forums to criticise Android.
My point is that having a proximity sensor that does not work properly is a fault however you look at it.
I think it is a very useful feature, if it worked.

No one in this thread has said anything negative for you to feel you couldn't criticize Android. No OS is perfect and as said, there are s-pen features that are motion base.

The user manual is very informative; give it a read.
