Help S Planner keeps defaulting to Samsung Calendar

I was unable to sync my Google Calendar with S Planner all day until finally I went into "Accounts and Sync" and unchecked every option for my Samsung account there, so the only account syncing now on my phone is my Google account. However, the problem now is that every time I create a new Event in S Planner I keep getting the default calendar to be Samsung Calendar: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iq8bco0pnp7s2ni/Screenshot_2012-06-28-21-23-52.png

Yet, in the S Planner Settings > Calendars I have this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdj6hpp3tjvo66y/Image-1530870737.png As you can see, I have only my Gmail account checked, and I have the My Calendars/Tasks and Samsung account all unchecked!

This is the only little thing I'm trying to solve with the phone, which is otherwise too awesome. The nuisance is that every time I create a new Event, it will default to the Samsung Calendar and I have to manually tap it to set it to my Google account, which should not be necessary. I would appreciate any help!

It's funny; I have the opposite problem with GTasks, where it even warns me that it will only sync with Google Events, not with S Planner. Luckily, I had no plans to ever use S Planner, so it seems to work out for me, but not for you. The AT&T and Samsung bloatware on this phone is a bit ridiculous.

I had the same problem, which I agree was very annoying. Not quite sure how I did it, but I removed the Samsung calendar, and now it defaults to the google one. Maybe try and google, 'remove samsung calendar'

Thanks, I just checked it out and it seems that removing the stock Samsung calendar requires rooting, which I'm not interested in doing.

I think I will use Jorte instead of S Planner.

I'm using Touch Calendar, which defaults to the Samsung calendar. I wish I could get it to default to Google, too.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. When I realized that Tasks in S Planner absolutely cannot be synced (you can only choose "My Tasks," the phone's local storage), this rendered it pretty useless.

I've gone with Jorte + Astrid + Agenda Widget. After a lot of apps tried, this combo is a winner for me.

I had this problem too as I could not see a way to change the default new calendar entry. But I found a way.

If you go into the main settings, then to Accounts and sync you should see all your accounts that you are syncing. I clicked on the samsung account and then removed account.

This meant that when i used S Planner gmail calendar was my default.

However, this also means that you cannot use Samsung DIVE (to locate phone or send it a message if it is lost). I then went back to "Accounts and sync" and did add account - samsung account.

Gmail is still my default and I can track my phone if someone is so jealous of the phone they decide it is for them...

It may be something like s planner uses the first synced account on the phone as it's default and as samsung will normally be first then that is your default.

Hope it works for you too.

That's it! I removed Samsung from Accounts and Sync, then re-added it. Now every new event indeed defaults to my Google account, thanks a lot pcj2000! Now I might return to S Planner after all :D

Really appreciate the post, hope it helps anyone else buggered by this. Yes I think you're correct that it does indeed latch on to the first added account (which of course is the Samsung account from setting up the phone first-time).

Thanks! This worked like a charm. Although I am not sure if while deleting the Samsung account, there were any calendar items that were saved under Samsung account. They would have got deleted. In case there are any items, users should be careful.

Thanks a ton for this anyway!

Best wishes

I only noticed this issue last night. Yep removed and re-added samsung account fixed it

Having used S Planner for a few days, I decided to investigate alternatives. As much as anything, this was to do with not being able to get my agenda displayed as I would like it, both in the app and in a 4x4 widget.

I settled on "Business Calendar" and have found that the free version does all I need, albeit without some of the fine-tuning that I'd like. The Pro version fills in all the gaps and is currently featured in Google Play's summer sale, meaning that it can be bought for

Great fix but I'm not sure it works In Jelly Bean. I've looked for the "Samsung Account" and it's not there any more .... I kindof liked S Planner better than Google Calendar but can't stand the default to "My Calendar" !!!!

I have the same problem. On JB and there is no option to remove samsung account!

I am really &%#$ing frustrated because I use google calendar at home and S planner on my phone and I really, really like s planner.

I even have MY CALENDAR unchecked in the settings.

I can add stuff on my computer and it shows up on my phone but it does not work vice versa unless I remember to change it every single time I add something which is several times a day with 3 busy kids.

I like getting an email from google every morning, but I realized lately they have all said NO EVENTS FOR TODAY but when I check my phone there are several.

what makes it more annoying is that I was perfectly happy with the Google Calendar App, then when I updated to JB it disappeared.

Settings > Accounts > Samsung Account > Accounts > Your email address with sync logo > remove account

There is no samsung account listed under setting/accounts. Only dropbox, friendster and google.

when I click on +account, samsung is not checked off.

This is weird, I went into calender settings and checked the my calender option and now the default is google!

Then I went back and unchecked it and it is still google.

Weird, but who cares if it works now!!!

I don't know what my calender is, but when I add an event to it it will not sync with google calender. It was defaulted and I had to change it for every evet added to my phone.

For some reason, checking off MY CALENDER changed the default to google and I am happy and don't really need to know why hahaha

My Calendar is the "Local" S3 calendar. One you use if you don't want to sync and want your calendar on S3 only. It may also sync with outlook if you do one of those old fashioned cable syncs :)

My Calendar is unchecked.
My gmail calendar is the only one checked.
Removed and re-added Samsung account.

Adding something to my gmail calendar on my pc adds it instantly to S3.
Adding events to S3 calendar doesn't show up anything anywhere. Even on the S3. This is amazing. How can this somehow be less intuitive?

Verizon, Amazon, and Samsung all trying to be more than they already are just serves to mess up everything. Why does Samsung need their own calendar especially as a default? If they want to do an app then that's fine. I actually like their calendar better than the google calendar app despite the ugly colors because of the month view that shows a few words of that day's event but if it doesn't sync with my gmail account's calendar then it's useless!

Incidentally...am I the only one who no longer has S Planner and only has Calendar now?

My s-calendar had stopped syncing with Google and I did everything recommended here and in my accounts Google calendar was failing to sync time and time again. The last sync date was over two weeks ago. Then it dawned on me that I had installed Google calendar to check it out, but kept getting dual notifications from both calendars even though I had disabled them in the Google app. The date syncing stopped seemed to be right around the time I uninstalled Google calendar. I reinstalled Google calendar and it immediately began syncing again. Hopefully I won't get dual notifications again. Thanks Google, for wasting over an hour of my time.
