S.T. now directly supporting GS3 / More At&t data cap news

This was just posted on Wontek within the last few days. According to some forums and news sites, it appears Straight Talk will soon be directly supporting the Galaxy S3. This is really surprising since the phone isn't that old. Although Wontek is generally correct concerning 'future phone' rumors, just remember this is not yet totally official. Since the galaxy S2 is $350- $400, I don't even want to think about the price tag ST will give the S3. Now, I understand a lot of you all have ST service on a Galaxy S3 by other ways, but I just think it's really awesome ST's pushing the envelope by (remember, IF this happens) directly supporting/selling one of the best and most popular Android phones today.

Anyways, here's the link: Straight Talk and Net10 get Samsung Galaxy S3 Being a developing story, there's not much info at all right now. By the way, Sweeper is a well known and credible poster from the popular turkforums.

Also, the whole developing data cap story that's being dragged out into the spotlight (finally) has been mentioned in this Straight Talk thread before, but here's some extra info concerning the data cap on Straight Talk phones specifically using At&t sim cards. It also mentions several other useful things Straight Talkers should know. :)

Here the s2 is $300. I got an email from walmart.com sale pricr $249.

Though I'm sure the S3 will be very high priced.

Really sucks about the data glad I use WiFi almost all the time.

I'm going to assume that in light of the features disabled on the Straight Talk TracFone Samsung Galaxy SII (no Flash, no tethering, NFC disabled, and data connection problems) the Galaxy SIII will not be anything like what is on the market.
I would avoid any phone sold by Straight Talk and TracFone.

If ST starts selling the s3, considering their s2 at the moment is $249, I couldn't see it being any cheaper than $599.

If anything I could see them trying to get $699 for it maybe considering how some of their phones are outrageously expensive.

Dragonslayer95- I wouldn't be surprised if the price was that much. Why is the s2 $250 in SC, where you live, but it was just announced for $300 here in Tennessee? It's also funny that the S"1" and S2 are now the same price. :P

Rudyy- You're probably correct in your assumption that ST will take away some features. On the other hand, not everyone wants to root. Also, data connection problems is probably the tower's fault instead of the phone's fault. That's just a guess. I've had the same phone and used the same tower (when I'm in my house) since early June. My signal used to be flawless, and I'd always have a good connection. Then, about Christmas time, my internet speeds slowed down a little (I could't tell immediately, but overtime), and it became common for me to jump between 3g and 1x aka 2g. I've read from seeeveral forums that stated the more a tower is shared, the slower data connection each person will get. I'm sure you already knew that though. It seems really silly for ST to have cut out the NFC. :(

I was just talking to a family member about switching to ST. I sent her a link to that article-I have no idea how much data she uses. I looked at my data history and have never gone over about 385 mb in a month so for now, I think I'm good.

I'd like to blame the towers, and what could be a high number of users.
Unfortunately, my speeds don't just slow down, I get a little zero in the notification area where my data icon is, and I get it almost always after midnight (I work swing shift) when there should be few people online.

That stinks. :/ Is it just your phone or are other STers with the S2 having the same issues?

I have seen a forum thread where others have noticed the same problem. They were not necessarily on this particular GSII model, and there were not a lot of complaints.

Dang, well let's hope the GS3 (if it happens) doesn't have that many issues. Or none!!.. but that's asking a lot. :P
