Help S-Voice - "Network error. Please try again"

Its working now.

It is still very disappointing to use. I can literally open my contacts and scroll and find the person I want to call about 10 times faster than clicking the shortcut on my home screen and saying "Call so and so". Most of the time it sits there thinking for about a solid minute before it starts to call the desired person. Way to slow for my taste. The please try again message gets real old real fast as well.

This is, of course, a rubbish application. I've had my SGSIII since July and I've still not managed to get S-Voice to work. I've tried it over a dozen times at various stages. I've had it operational briefly while I'm at work, but I'm not sitting in the middle of a crowded office shouting 'Hi Galaxy' at my bloody phone.

I get 'Network error. Please try again' all the time when connected to wifi. I have absolutely no idea why. I tried the 'clear data' solution, but that just deleted all my preferences. I find it hugely disappointing.

I get the server errors now with the JB update, I tried to call a person utilizing their first name like it say's in the help section of S voice and get the server error. Now, when I say the full name of the person it dials the number.

S-Voice sucks anyway.

Google's native voice search kicks ass though, and I use voice commands all the time. Download 'ICS Voice Search Shortcut'. You're phone won't ask you stupid questions or tell you what it is getting ready to do, like Siri, it just does it instantly with no fuss. If it isn't sure and there are multiple possibilities for actions they will be listed on the screen for a quick click.

This worked for me. Thanks!

EDIT: However, the error recurred when I tried to use S Voice after exiting. Can this error be made to go away?

2ND EDIT: Never mind. I just found out that you need to be connected to Wi-Fi or to 3G in order not to encounter the network error.
I am connected to WiFi and I'm still getting the message, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Very frustrated! I upgraded to JB too, maybe that has something to do with it who knows.......

I have had the galaxy s3 for a month now and S-voice always worked fine. This morning i got a system update and installed it for the phone. Now s-voice constantly gives me a network error. try again message no matter what i say. I also cleared the data for the s-voice and it still doesnt work. Does anyone know what could be causing this and how i may be able to fix it. Thank you

Hi, newbie to the forum here.
Anyone tried using Evan/Eve instead of S voice? I ask because having downloaded it from the app store, I'm getting the same network timeout messages all the time that you've been quoting. Tried disabling S voice in case there was a conflict; disabled Adblocker, task manager, etc - no joy. I wouldn't mind if I hadn't bought the app!
