Help S2 I9100G randomly Shuts Off

Hi Guys,

Bought the S2 4 days back. I have been experiencing random shut off from my samsung galaxy s2 g version i9100G model. For your information, i did not root or used any custom rom. And my phone is on 2.3.6 android version. Anyone knows how to deal with this problem? Any advised and suggestion is greatly appreciated. If anyone has the same problem, please share how you handle it. The other thing I noticed is the shutdown occured 70% of the time when it was in my pocket and the reamining time at my desk. Thanks.

P.S: Bought this phone from India throught buytheprice.com. Made in Vietnam.
 
Chances are something in your pants or an external item is hitting the power button long enough to cause it to shut down by force (pressing power for about 10 seconds forces the device to shutdown)... happened to me many times - especially with rather tight jeans, until i bought a leather casing that covered the button area; requiring me to dig with my nails in order to press it. Had no problems since.
 
If you bought only 4 days back, that means you don't have much apps yet. Do a factory reset and clear the cache. That way you will start the phone from scratch. You are using 2.3.6 which means you probably just upgraded. Might be an issue of clashing firmware.

Press Power+Vol Up+Home buttons and you should go to the screen for doing all those things like wiping cache and factory reset. Wouldn't advise this if you have lots of apps since it means everything gets reset to original and you have to redo settings and reinstall the apps again.

I had this a few times. Everytime it happened the phone would turn on fine act normal and then say 30 mins later the phone would have turned itself off or restarted.

I reseated the SD card and the batteray and it seemed fine. Seems if it was in my pocket whilst running or I let it bang on the floor or desk it would start doing this. I took the SD card out in the end as I didnt need the space at the time. New card fitted and all seems fine after a few months now.

Don't have your problem, but maybe you can try going to the app and clear its data and try setting up the email account again. Look for the app in Settings/Manage applications/ under the All tab. Just scroll and look for the app you are using and tap on it to go to options to clear data.
 
Had the same problem with my SGS2 - would randomly power off.

Exchanged it under warranty. New one was OK for about 4 months and has now started doing the same thing. Happens a few time per week.
 
Mine's started doing the same since my ICS update. It's on my desk in front of me, so it's not knocking on anything (it last did it about 10 minutes ago). I keep getting lots of generic things (maps, mail etc) force closing since ICS & it seems to me like it force closes and then reboots as if it can't close the app and just resets. Love ICS, but not happy with this! Also battery life is about 1/3-1/2 worse than it was before, but I'm trying some tips from here to see if they fix it.
 
Have you tried a factory reset? Backup as much as you can first, but it looks like ICS clashing with GB remnants.... so will have to wipe and factory reset.

That said... Didn't know I9100G had ICS. How did you update? If you update via Odin using I9100 ICS and flashed to I9100G, all bets are off.... you need to flash back original firmware.
