Hi guys im a S2 GT-1900G user.

After updating my phone to the latest android 4.0.3 which is the ics version, my ram shows only 687mb compared to last time when im using gingerbread it show 1gb of ram.

Does anyone have the same problem with me?

Or can anyone explain to me what is going on here?

Actually it should have only ever shown about 850 or so MB on Gingerbread. I can't remember as I currently have ICS on my GS2.

Right now mine is showing that there is 831MB RAM available for applications.

What build of ICS are you on?

On the G version, it shows 687 mb after ICS upgrade. The non-G version as shown in screenshot has higher RAM?

i have the same problem. i have the G aswell and updated to ICS yesterday and now im sitting at 687MB and my usage is at 587MB. how do we sort this out?

i heard some people say that it's just a bug and it still runs on 1gb ram but it just doesnt show.

Hmmm can anyone prove this thou?

Does the phone run slower? Any stutters? Lag? Even on my 9100I my memory usage can be as much as 90% and I never notice any performance degradation.

Dear All,

Even I'm facing the same issue. I upgraded to latest android 4.0.3 on my Galaxy S2 G version yesterday only to face issues. The reduced RAM from 1 GB to 687 MB is one of them. Apart from this, The device refused to get charged for the first time. I have to charge it after shutting it down. More annoying is the automatic switching off of the device.
Can any one explain this??? Is it good decision to upgrade to ICS from trusted Gingerbird?

Regards,
Slathia

I think you have the dreaded problem of old firmware remnants clashing with new ICS firmware. You probably need to do a factory reset and wipe cache. Press Power+Home+Vol UP to get to the menu to do all this things.

But you lose all settings and user installed apps. You maintain your ICS. Back up whatever you can before doing the factory reset.

Had nothing but problems since updating. A few of my Apps does not want to work, the phone is very slow, switch of by itself or just hangs for a couple of minutes. Did a factory reset and reloaded all my Apps. Still not better. Each time I start the phone a couple of Apps do not want to load. Battery runs down very quickly and the settings change randomly.
:mad::mad: WISH I HAD NEVER DONE THE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad:

i upgraded my s2 to ics and it slowed down
started showing only 687mb ram
temple run and go sms could not be used anymore
the phone went crap
i had to take it to the samsung service centre to get back gingerbread
now the phone works fine and shows 1gb of ram again..
