S2 or Moto G?

My last phone was a LG Optimus One, and it was terrible. I need a new phone because it's just too slow.
My price range is about NZ$300.
Currently I'm deciding between the Galaxy S2 and the Moto G, but there could be something else better.

I need a much better processor, a good screen, and a reasonable amount of memory. I would get the Moto G, but I have a few issues:
1)The battery can't be removed, so is there a reset switch or something in case you need to turn the phone off but the display isn't working?
2)No expandable memory- I want the phone for at least a year or to, and even though I have been basically fine with 2GB,can I put extra photos and stuff onto my PC via the USB?

SO what phone would be good for me?

Welcome to AF! :)

I've had several devices with non removable batteries, my present has a reset switch, whilst the others have had the ability to do a forced battery pull by holding down the power button.

With the Moto G, yes, you should be able to transfer stuff between your PC no problem. You don't even need USB. If they're on the same wireless network, you can use an app called Airdroid.

The SGS2 is an older device and whilst good at the time, is 3 generations behind. Spec wise, the Moto G wipes the floor with it.

Personally, I'd go for the Moto G, but my last few phones haven't had expandable storage or removable batteries so I've learned to live without them.

Moto G is the better phone, Galaxy S2 is still no slouch but that 800*480 display really does look dated now compared to pretty much anything 720p or better.

Make sure you get the 16GB version though, there really isn't much left for apps on the 8GB version.

I would get a Moto G over the Galaxy S2. Another option for you might be the LG L90, it was just released and is similar to the Moto G - plus it has an SD card slot.

Check around for a used Galaxy S3. I see plenty on Swappa for $170-$250 USD which $300 is about $256. I do like my Moto G but an S3 is a much better phone (I had a used one for many months and loved it). Much better camera and while the software leaves much to be desired, I think you'd like it better, and obviously leads the S2.

Thanks, but as far as I can tell no stores in NZ sell the 16GB version. If I want to get any huge apps, however, I can always use bluestacks

Also look at the Moto X which is also affordable and allows for 4G and LTE, which the G does not, u can get a used one also for under $300, and you can buy a new one for around $350

Thankyou. The L90 sounds good, but I don't think it's available in NZ. All I could find is that it cost $450 (a bit over my budget:() but I'm not sure from where.

I hate to say it but I could only find a $700 one. Thanks for the help though.

Check for an International one on eBay from a reputable supplier, one that is unlocked, also check on Swappa, there are many

I will see what I can find, but I would prefer to buy from a store where I can claim warranty easily and quickly.

You can do the same on eBay, just make sure you buy new and from a reputable member, and don't be scared to asked questions to him about the phone.

I bought mine brand new in the box with full warranty, and paid $350, you can also by it directly from Motorola Moto Maker for $350 also I believe and custom make it for your specs.
