S2 Skyrocket name

I'm having a discussion here at work with a friend and he is getting a new phone. I have a Skyrocket and he wanted to get one. What he is telling me is the "Skyrocket" name applies only to the ATT S2, is that correct? I always assumed the Skyrocket name applied to all the carriers and it was a Samsung model. What are the facts?

Well the "Skyrocket" name only applies on ATT. It is Samsung model SGH-i727 (which is only available in the US on ATT).

The Galaxy S2 on ATT is Samsung model SGH-i777.

The closest phone in terms of size/features in the Galaxy line is the T-Mobile Galaxy SII varient model SGH-T989

Good place to find this is at

ATT has two s2 phones. The original s2 and the skyrocket. Pretty similar except the skyrocket has LTE

Not similar at all. The SII has an Exynos processor, the skyrocket a Snapdragon, the SII is a 4.3" screen and the skyrocket 4.5".
