Help S3 Bluetooth Issues ... HELP!!!

Greetings..

I'm a new android user having traded up to the GS3 from my aged blackberry. Regretfully, as it turns out. Very cool device for sure, but this issue with bluetooth is driving me insane.

I have a bose bluetooth headset, a toyota pick up, and a BMW X5. I can't get the S3 to connect reliably to any of them, although they all show as "paired" in the bluetooth device list.

Sometimes it will connect with some coaxing of the buttons on my headseat, sometimes it won't.

Most of the time, even when it does connect, it will abruptly drop the connection, sometimes in the middle of the call.

This has become a major problem for me. I'm a business man and my car is my office, and I'm always on the phone. It's actually become a safety hazard and cost me quite a lot of time and aggravation having to pull over to take a call.

I don't want to utter blasphemy, but my iPhone 4S connects to both my cars and my crappy bose earpiece perfectly, every time.

Does anyone know ANYTHING that will fix this? Even if it requires the purchase of a new headset, I don't care. I need to get this fixed or it's going to have to go back.

Many thanks...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ... but LOTS of us are having just the same problem. My former HTC Dinc (1) paired just fine; my new S3 nearly always has a pairing problem. Other forums have these same threads -- and they seem mostly to affect folks with autos that have a Fujitsu BT head unit -- as apparently, does my Honda.

Sadly, there appears to be no "fix" for this -- as there is no way to replace or upgrade the BT head unit in the car.

Some have purchased plugin BT units for their cars -- which do seem to work better.

If you don't mind purchasing a new head set I recommend the Motorola Elite flip. Connects with the phone every time and has never lost connection in the middle of a call.

The other nice thing about this headset is you can download an app called Moto Speak. It does text to voice to read messages to your headset as soon as it comes in. You can then say your reply and the app sends it out as a text. This app works great.

perhaps it's a bad handset? Mine connects fine to my jawbone, my mazda, and my motorola s3 stereo headsets. has yet to lose connection to any of those devices once connected.

while there are others having issues, many are not. perhaps there's an issue with quality control and some have bad bt radios or are just "broken"... try taking it back and bringing some of your bluetooth devices with you to see if a different handset cures your ills.

I too have had issues with pairing the s3 to my VW Golf, although I couldn't connect at all (iPhone 4 had no problems). I followed the advice of someone on another forum (can't remember which forum sorry) and downloaded Bluetooth File Transfer by Medieval Software found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.medieval.blueftp
This is a free app which allowed my phone to pair to the car straight away. I have since uninstalled the app and the phone continues to pair to the cars hands-free and media player automatically when turning bt off and on via the phone. I will post back if I have any future issues with this apparent solution.

My phone is S3 4g with stock Telstra (Australia) firmware on android 4.1

I have Glaxy3 and have same problem ,some time bluetooth conect but most of the time it won't conect,I do not understand if samsung reading all these problems why not fix it ,I had Blackberry Bold no problem to conect always conect when I start the car,Idon;t know why I change my phone

This sounds like a software problem if an app can fix it as Doctor81 says so it's amazing that Samsung haven't fixed this yet. This would be a deal breaker for a lot of people.

Agreed.

I've read a few forum posts regarding this issue and anyone who has bothered to contact Samsung has been given the cold shoulder. I read on a forum post somewhere that the poster went to the trouble of rolling back the OS version which allowed him to pair the phone and stay paired without drops. After re-updating back to current OS version the phone continued to connect successfully. So his conclusion was that there is an issue with setting up the initial BT profile between the pair.

I'm certainly no expert on this subject but it looks fairly obvious that this is a Samsung software issue with Android 4.0 & 4.1..

Anyhow, for those having issues sustaining a connection, I would suggest deleting the profile from the other devices and see if you have any luck re-pairing after installing the app I mentioned earlier. In my case it has continued to work after uninstalling the app as I had no other use for it (and couldn't work out how to stop it from running!).

This solved my problem on Galaxy S3, thanks a lot Doctor81 (and Medieval Software)

The main problem with cars and Samsung bluetooth is the phonebook, try removing the pair from the car and the phone, then re pairing it, this time when it asks if you want to send the phonebook say no and tick the box that says never do this.

This should fx the problem but it's not really a fix :(
