Help S3 front-face camera

The front-face camera on the S3 is the only issue I have with the phone.
Before you take the picture, it seems to be sharp, but once the photo is actually taken it looks as if I overused the smart blur tool in photoshop.

I dont know if this was intended to give off a more "glamour" look but it sucks. I look like a cartoon character in every photo I use with the front face camera.

To my surprise, ive found no solution after googling for hours.. its as if the problem doesnt exist when I personally know other people with the same problem.

Hoping someone on here can help me out and wondering if others are having the same issue.

Yeah I noticed this as well... I thought maybe there was just a smudge over the camera, but nope. The pictures are ALWAYS blurry in regular shot.

Well I think the Front facing camera uses less mega pixels. Have you tried going into settings and changing the resolution?

I've probably tried each setting available in the camera.. get the same result each time.. & this happens to be my second s3. My first one also had the issue.

Welp.. I guess that's just how the camera is.

Just can't believe the worse phone I ever owned (HTC Evo 4G) had a better front camera than the "iPhone killer"

Its a big fault, but I still love the phone anyway. Thanks all.

Front-facing cameras always have lower megapixels. Off hand, I'm not aware of a front facing camera with higher resolution than the S3's 1.9 MP. As long as the light is good, I find the pictures to be reasonably sharp. The iPhone 5's front camera is only 1.2 MP.

You don't have a screen protector covering the camera, do you?

I mean.. yeah. I'm not expecting it to be the same or higher resolution than the back camera.

& no. No screen protector.

The front camera is designed for Skype, so the MP is less important than the quality due to file size vs bandwidth.

I have an old Nokia with a 2mp camera and when I compare a picture taken on this against the SG's front camera, there isn't that much difference, having said that....can we have a 1080p front facing camera on the SG4, please Mr Samsung??

The current camera is just a hair less than 1080p.

1080p resolution is 1920 x 1080 = 2.07 MP. I'd say the current 1.9 MP is close enough.

What the hell are you going to film with your front facing camera that needs to look good on a 50" TV?

I had Ipod 5, which has the same characterstics than Iphone 5, except that it cannot be used to phone someone.
Ipod 5 front camera is way better and doesn't make the picture smudge.
And it has a worse megapixel? I don't think it's a problem with megapixels. There is something wrong with the camera.
