Help S3 Gallery pix into MAC...no joy

Ok, back to the owners manual but no luck...went to the beach today and took some pix I'd like to import into my MAC. I plug the phone into the cord and USB cable to back of MAC.

However the MAC will not recognize the device. I get a question mark on my Mac icon tray...nothing to open and no pix.

Advice?

Many thanks,
Steve

I'll check it out. Many thanks, but why can't I plug in and see my pix? Should I be able to, or am I doing something wrong...my Droid X was easy-plug into the Mac and the pix would show up on my desktop...:(

Cheers,
Steve

Dropbox is indeed the easiest way. Another possibility is AirDroid. It has a beautiful UI and you can transfer files (download and upload) wirelessly.

Use Dropbox. Very simple.

Ok, so I downloaded Drop Box onto my S3. No problem. I want to see these photos on my Mac or MacBook Air. How do I get the photos from Drop box onto my Macs?

I noticed there is not a Drop Box app in the Mac app store...

Thanks for helping this noobie out!

Ok, I needed to stop thinking "app," and think "cloud." Duh. This is a cloud-based app, so I went to the Net and downloaded it. See my pictures in a file.

Thanks, guys for helping me suss this out....

Well, as a noobie, I'll say I used the included usb cable from the phone to a usb port on the MAC.

Thoughts? and Thanks!

Steve

That's why it's not working.

Plug it in, pull the drop down menu, click on usb options and click MTP and PTP and you can transfer things.

Thanks, Captain... I'll give it a try...I did notice two options on the phone after plugged in, MTP and PTP. It would let me check ONE of the boxes, but not both.

I'll check the usb options on the Mac, as you suggest. Many thanks!

Steve

PS-Drop Box works great! I've never used it before...

Been awhile since I used it that way, but if you can only click one, click that one that allows you to transfer what you are looking to transfer.

Drop box is solid, so too are many others just depends how you wanna do it. The world just opened up :)

Both MTP and PTP allow the "use device as camera" option, but no transfer... I'm waving the white flag...Drop Box seems to work flawlessly, even though I cannot find a way to batch load...

I appreciate your insights.

Steve

Android File Transfer - From the Android site, specifically for MAC users.

When I plug my phone in this application opens. Can xfer files back and forth.

Just google it.

Android File Transfer is a temperamental app. It just will not work on my Mac. I heard other Mac users having luck with it, but I'm not one of those. Luckily there are other means (wireless!) to do transfers.

i have a MBA, i am using airdroid app and it works seamlessly. go install it.

AirDroid is a no brainer. By far the best app i've ever downloaded. Truely amazing, simple and the easier way to transfer wirelessly. Anyway I see you sorted it now, enjoy!

I agree! The user interface is the best I've seen in any other app on the iPhone or Android platform. Best of all: it's free!

Hey guys. you all rock. I installed airdroid and dropbox and I am good to go. FWIW I followed the utube instructions on Android to Mac file xfer several times...Pretty sure I was doing it as instructed, but my Mac simply will not recognize my S3.

Whatever.

Thanks to your collective guidance I've got two apps that'll do the job simply and elegantly. (I only wish Drop Box would batch load photos...can't seem to figure out if it just won't or I'm screwing it up somehow...:D:D)

Cheers,
Steve
