Root S3 Mini needs Android 4.3

Wheelz77

Lurker
I've had an S3 mini for almost a year now and noticed a Samsung Gear V700 at a very good price. Checked out the promotional material, reviews, manual etc and thought, yes, I'll get one.
After several failed attempts to connect it to my phone I did a search to try and discover why.
That's when I found out that I needed 4.3 on my phone. None of the above material stated that as a requirement.
I called Samsung who said 4.3 is being released to S3 mini on a priority system of which "region" is a factor also. He could give me no indication when I might expect it but that I just need to wait and check for updates periodically.
I tried the CyanogenMod 10.2 but my phone said it was "unsigned" and refused to continue.
So I'm stuck, for I don't know how long, with this new smart watch that I can't use until Android 4.3 is released . . . "UNLESS" someone else here has a work-around that I could use. :p

Anyone able to help? . . . pretty please?

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks dibblebill,

My phone is still stock so it probably isn't unlocked.
And being less than a year old I'm growing more and more reluctant to fiddle at the risk of bricking it as I'm reading so many warnings with every search I do. I really can't afford a new phone right now.
Guess I'll just have to wait for the legitimate update. sigh . . . :(

Moved to your device forum for better support. ;)

Your Device has to be rooted and Custom - Recovery installed. If this is done, you can search for a Custom - Rom.
Your Device is I8190 ? Not I8190 N ?
Root your Phone and install TWRP - Recovery.

Thanks lecter1,

It's a I8190N.
I haven't done this sort of thing to a phone before, how would you rate the risk level?

The Level is low if you read and follow the Instructions . Search Google, and be sure, that the Instructions and Files are for I8190 N.
BtW : DO NOT USE my Link for TWRP. It's only for I8190.

Cool thanks.

I'll first need to look up the "how-to" on rooting the phone.
I'll hopefully be able to reply with a good outcome. :)

I think, you will have to read a lot.Take your Time doing.

Edit : I'm going wrong. You can use the Recovery from the Link. It's for I8190N too.
