How is it connected to your Router? Cat5 Ethernet cable? That means it has an IP address?

Personally I use ES file explorer: Google Play Link to connect to all my network drives.

The S3 can not be mounted as USB Mass Storage (the standard way of mounting previous Android devices). Instead, you have to mount it as a Camera or Multimedia Device.

Indeed, but that's not what the OP was asking. OP wanted to browse a HDD attached to his network from his phone.
