S3 refarmng confusion, can someone edjumocate me please?

I am a little cornfused.

Let's say someone were to take advantage of the lower used S3 prices when the S4's come out. :D

Metro's CDMA is supposed to be around til the beginning of 2015? Correct?

Do I understand correctly that if you have a current Metro phone and they drop CDMA that you'll still use 4G and VoiP *but if you leave a Metro-T-Mo 4G area you'd be with no signal?*

Would it make any difference phone performance wise UNTIL THEN if you had a Metro S3 or a T-Mo S3 on Metro? (or can you even do a T-Mo S3 on Metro?)

Hep me unnastan all this please. :o

Right now metro cdma phones can and do roam, with sprint right?
So I would expect you could still pick up cdma service on sprint towers, until they do cut cdma service. july 2015 I think.
Now this is just my understanding of what I have read, this is not indicative of what will happen just what I think will happen.

Say you buy the cdma s3 now, with the cheaper price its probably worth it.
You will have great service(or at least comparable to todays) for the first year, so till summer 2014, by that time they will have converted some, maybe most cdma towers to hspa so cdma coverage gets thinner, fewer towers to cover the same amount of land. But on the Positive side by that time many people will have upgraded phones and of course those would be gsm phones so you (still running cdma) would get the benefit of fewer phones using those towers so your speeds will stay higher. This is all 3g not LTE as both types of phones will use the same LTE.

from what I know even when cdma is cut off metros older phones would still be running on tmob new lte network...but only that only...

people that purchase newer gsm phones from the tmo/metro merger will be able to use hspa/hspa+/tmo lte/ metro 4g...correct me if im wrong...

They're combining the LTE networks much much quicker than they said they were. But ehh who's complaining.

The question is who is able to get on it. They initially said metro subscribers would be the only ones to get on the combined metro-tmo bandwidth while tmo subscribers would only be getting on the original amount of tmo spectrum.

I am unsure how that would be implemented, other then by the prl on the metro cdma phone.

And it really only dropped to 400. 350 if you added another line.

i seen that you got an additional 50 off when bought in stores (like the did/is doing with the motion)... does this mean it was only 300 or did i read it wrong (100 instant rebate, 50 mail in, and 50 instant if bought in stores)

I did the same deal when it was 499 minus $50 Mail in, then another $50 off if bought in store. So it worked out like this.

Original Price: $499
Minus $50 Instant bought in store rebate:
449 out of pocket now
Minus $50 Mail in rebate

$399 Total I paid

This was not add a line, it was new line only

There is an instant 100 rebate, instore or online.

That gets it to 399.

Where it STAYS unless you send in the <cough, cough> $50 "rebate" form for Adding Another Line(s).

Also that's + tax and activate if you do it instore.

When it hit's $299 on Wirefly I might think about it. :p

Bruce in Ocala, FL-the only device worth $400, swallows.

well things to consider i think i can still sell my gs3 for $300. lol yes instant $100 off so leaves it at $400 but with taxes thats another $30 added now the extra $50 is a mail in rebate and thats gonna take a while so in total cost the whole enchilada will be $380 and and oh activation fee/ upgrade fee depending where u go $10-$15 so still close to $400 so if any1 wants to sell their gs3 for $300 thats a good price to start off at. and if anyone dares to say but oh we can activate it ourself keep in mind no dealer sells a phone without activation just ask.

You don't get the other $50 unless you ADD Another Line to your account.

It's NOT a phone rebate it's an Extra Line rebate.

I really dont think I would ever pay $350 for any S3 and especially not a t mobile s3, the first ones were non LTE and for $350 I can buy the 16gb version nexus 4 that does have LTE though not officially.:p

And that nexus has quad core cpu 2gbs ram and other goodness. I have not used any s3 at this time but I have the nexus 4 and there is never any lag. im quite impressed with it.

if you dont mind not being the first, Samsung Galaxy S III (Metro PCS) For Sale - CGY890 - $260 > Swappa 260 sgs3 (no its not mine). at that price it really is a bargain, teh s3 started on 4.0.4, had one ota, then a leak of 4.1.1, ota of 4.1.2, now we h ave a leak of premium suite 4.1.2.

seems metro is actually tryuing with teh sgs3, so long term os support is gunna be good. especially since it is the only device on metropcs with official cm status..

Yeah Shabby but the Metro S3 still has CDMA and no GSM.

$260 is getting close to "top shelf" money for Me anyway. I think I saw T-Mo S3's with GSM/LTE on Fleabay for $300-325. If you Made Me spend top shelf money for me Now, that's probably what I'd get.

$165 for a Spirit for 18 months is one thing, with the $ difference between a Metro S3 and T-Mo S3 being so little it wouldn't make sense to me to buy a Metro S3 Now.

your right that it has cdma, but it also will support volte, and thus still work even after cdma shuts off. so someone who has 300 bucks to buy a new phone somone can go snag a tmo sgs3 hold onto it til the 12th and hopefully can snag a sim use tmobiles hspa+ network and pay his metro bill. since all we know for certain at this time is metro will start selling gsm devices, and have a byod program. but no word yet on how gsm will work on metro towers or vice versa yet :/

for someone who may have a spirit or an older metro phone (esteem?) 260 may noit be a bad enough price to drop for 2 years of support plus volte life

Good point on the volte thing which I believe tmobile calls hd voice of I'm not mistaken
I dont think hd voice is the same, hd voice only works to another tmo phone with hd voice.

VOLTE is the ability to make calls over the LTE radio, in affect is like using the vonage or other voip apps but better supported.
