S3 Screen replacement - The Adhesive

I doubt I'll get an answer based on the lack of replies but what the heck, I will ask anyway.

I have an S3 Screen Replacement kit that came with a pre-cut adhesive. I can't for the life of me figure out how this is supposed to work. This is primarily for a couple of reasons.

1) There is adhesive on only one side of the pre-cut blank. It has adhesive on the phone side. If the other side goes to the screen, what holds it on, with adhesive between the glass and the adhesive layer?

2) There are cutouts in this adhesive layer, that are squarely in the viewing area. There is a notch and some other cutouts that are visible in the display area. What are they for? And there is a cutout all around the blue area. It's not clear if the entire blue area needs to be completely removed, including the layer that has the glue. It's also in that blue area. The film with glue extends across the blue but it's not clear if that's supposed to remain. I think the actual glue is only on the edges but I haven't removed the protective film to check. And, if it is, why the cutouts.

I have not tried to replace the glass yet, until I know what this pre-cut layer is supposed to be for and how it works with adhesive only on one side. This was specifically for the S3 which is all the more confusing. Also, it came with no instructions. I don't know if the image will display but here is the pre-cut adhesive. The adhesive is only on the far side of this image.

Wouldn't these u-shaped notches and cutouts visible?
Why no adhesive on the near side?

Update: The adhesive layer is a hard plastic with protective film. I'm wondering if this hard plastic is to remain in the phone, or if it's to be removed, after the adhesive is bonded to the phone, exposing another layer of adhesive?

But even if that's the case, there is still the issue of these cutout areas that are in the plastic adhesive layer.

I'm also wondering if in the blue area, there is supposed to be some glue, after the protective film is removed, or if the glue is only in the black areas.

If someone has actually used this adhesive, how is it applied? What parts remain and what parts must be removed? Is there any glue area in the area where the blue is shown. On the original unmodified there was a thin film of glue in the blue area.

Finally! Someone who is asking the same question as I am... I just received a replacement screen kit and it came with a similar pre-cut adhesive (mine has a pink tint to it instead of blue), however it came with NO instructions. Every single video on line either uses 3M tape on the sides, or a liquid adhesive and I cannot figure out what the heck the cutouts are for???

So, did you ever bite the bullet and just install it anyways? If so, what were the results??

Somewhere I was a video of a screen replacement for the S3. It may have been youtube. Sorry I can't help more.

In case someone else showed up confused but on a lower level and it didn't clear up yet (yes, I'm that dense), *the center isn't transparent*. I was under the impression the whole screen was supposed to be stuck here (just as it originally was), but the center (nearly all of it) needs to be removed before the glass goes on.

Not sure what the center parts were for (they don't go on the screen, that's for sure), I used one and part of the other to stick down the back/menu sensors/leds and shore up a few parts here and there. I might have used a bit more of the center if I knew it was available.

Dunno about remove before or after. It's kind of hard to get it out when the whole thing is pasted down, but on the other hand I think it'd be way harder to get the edges to actually go where they should without it holding them still (that way it'd be just as easy to just put on double sided 2mm tape). So if (likely when) I do this again, I'll probably do a hybrid - leave it in there to hold the edges in place but make sure I have several "starts" where it's fully separated all three layers. Like perhaps the four corners and a spot or two along the sides. That way, it'll hold them there (and not stick to anything since it has the white and blue covers on the whole way through) but is easier to separate from the adhesive without yanking the edges all over the place again.

Good luck folks.

Registered to thank you. Could not find information regarding this adhesive sticker anywhere else. Removed the middle section (sadly after applying it to the lcd) and it works flawlessly with the glass. The adhesive is indeed not clear, mine had a yellowish tint to it, so leaving it on would have been a bad idea & a time consuming mistake.

I have been searching youtube for a video using this adhesive and I got very frustrated. All I could find used the loca glue or the 3m double faced tape. So, thank you for addressing on this forum. Unfortunatley, I must be dense because I cannot figure out how to remove the center of the adhesive sheet. :( I am a 69 yo female so this is "new fangled" tech and I am trying to catch on. Could someone please explain on kindegaren level how this adhesive works...I'm good with the rest of the process.

A great big thankyou in advance!

Ok, to Put on remove only outer edge of the backing of adhesive, then center on your device, once you've got that to stick around frame you pull on the u shaped tag carefully to lift the middle part of adhesive off. They give you the whole card to stabllize the outer piece while putting into place. but I think they should include that info with item! I found out by trial and error. Hope this helps

Still kind of confused.
I just recieved my kit and the adhesive is just throwing me off.
I watched so many youtube videos but none ive seen even had this/the same adhesive sticker.
-Does the sticky part go upward sticking to the new glass? Or what, I really need step by step diresctions if I could get more. Thanks
