Help S3 Stuck in landscape view

My s3 has recently become stuck in landscape view. Whilst in landscape view, I have turned auto rotation off and on, made no difference. I have calibrated it several times, no difference.
Have to restart the phone to get it out of landscape mode. Then if I leave it on a table for a bit, it goes back into landscape mode and is stuck again.
Even more strange, despite being stuck in landscape view on the home pages, apps in use will rotate and then sometimes when I come out of apps the phone rotation works again.
Think it started happening after the most recent software update. Unless someone has a fix, will have to un-install the last update.

Update. Spoke with Samsung support, useless, only solution they provided was a format / restore of the phone. After doing a bit of testing, have found work around. Simply start up an app such as facebook and then once it's up and running, press the home button, worked for me.
