Help S3 Time Disappeard Replaced With Strange Message

Maybe someone can answer this one. My wife's phone's time will disappear within the menu and is replaced by a strange message (this time it was bW) sometimes it is in Arabic letters and only happens for a brief period of time (2-5) seconds every couple of days. The phone is not rooted and I sniffed our network for anything strange connecting to the device and found that everything is normal. I know it needs to be wiped, although I thought I would share to see if anyone else has seen this? Maybe a C & C or update servers compromised?

Have you installed a third-party font, or some sort of theming or skinning app? Maybe that's doing it. Because that "bW" where the clock should be is in a typeface that doesn't come with Samsung phones AFAIK. The battery "87%", looks like it's in the same casual typeface.

No third-party fonts have been installed. We analyzed the picture further and it looks like it is a black block with text covering the time and it blinks for a couple of seconds and it is done. My wife says she notices it when she is on Facebook while reading an article from a link on Facebook and it has happened three times in the past couple of months. We went in tonight and removed all applications that have access to her Facebook account to see if it happens again. Two other people on Facebook says it has happened to them too. Very interesting.

New to me also, and I was going to suggest that a funky font scheme has been applied.

I do have a suggestion those, why not force a new System Font on the phone and see if that can shake out the gremlins.

I am using this one and find it very nice..... for tired ole eyes, it allowed me to increase the size of the system fonts about 3 times.
