Help S3 to PC

Welcome to the forum klinger and thanks for joining.

Do you have kies installed as you will need the drivers which come with it

PC does not recognize phone but it does as a camera>
When you plug in the USB cable from the phone to the PC, if you have Windows 7, the operating system is smart enough to install the necessary driver for you (you should see a series of prompts on the system tray to tell you exactly what the OS is doing). After you see the prompt for something like "the device is ready to be used" or something like that, you will have a dialog box with options like "open the folder". Clicking on that option will open up your phone's storage in a Windows Explorer. You do not need to install any tool.

Hope this helps.

My AT&T US version I couldn't get the phone to mount via USB only charge...I tried everything, what I found out to be the problem...the cable that ships with the phone. When I used the supplied cable it would only charge the phone and not mount the drives. When I used the USB cable from my other droid phone it worked fine. Oddly enough I tried the Samsung supplied cable with my other droid phone and it didn't mount either, just charged.

Try a different cable.

I have the AT&T version. I just tried the Samsung-supplied USB cable that came with the wall charger, and the phone connected just fine (Windows XP SP3). The phone shows up as SAMSUNG-SGH-I747, with two sub-folders, Card and Phone (external and internal storage, respectively).

Don't know if this is the same thing that was happening to me but when I have my phone locked with a password, Windows can't see any folders inside it. Once I unlock it, you can see everything and transfer files to it.

I was having this same problem. I have the windows xp pack 3 installed yet it still wouldn't recognize. It took about 3 times for kies to finally install on my computer. But once it was I was able to move files around like I did with my OG EVO. I can use it as a disk drive. not exactly thrilled with this Kies software, but it did make it a smig easier deleting some of these songs I no longer wanted.

My XP sees my phone but only with the cable the came with it. Does that make sense? not another usb/micro usb
