Help S3 update browser homepage behaviour

Since updating to Android 4.3 on Galaxy s3 browser homepage behaviour has changed. When using stock browser and opening via internet icon the browser will open the last page visited and as a 2nd tab. Home page loads as 1st tab but not visible. It also appears that when backing out of browser it does not close. The previous version of the phone appeared to close internet app on backing out and would open homepage no matter what page had been viewed last. I have read the posts on clearing the cache and can go back to the homepage via tabs, however this seems like a round about way to a solution.

Does anyone have a fix for this, apart from using an alternate browser?

All of those behaviors depend on the particular browser. But you can set the home page, you can set whether the browser opens on the last page used or on the home page (or on a blank page) and whether the browser asks for confirmation on the last "back" or just closes. (Pressing back once won't close the browser, it closes the current tab. If there's only one tab, it either closed the browser, asks you if you want to exit or tells you to press back again to exit. Again - it depends on which browser you're using.)

And with some browsers, the various actions are changed in a newer version.

If you tell us which browser you're using (I believe you have a choice of Internet and Chrome), and the version number, someone can probably guide you through changing the settings to the way you prefer. (My personal feeling is that neither Internet nor Chrome is a good browser - and neither one does Flash - so I don't use either one. I keep Dolphin and Next in a folder on my desktop and use whichever one is best for the site I'm going to. And they both do Flash.)

Many thanks for your reply. I am using the stock internet browser running on Samsung S3 Android version 4.3. This is the same as the S4 which my wife has and has the same behaviour. I know how to set the homepage, but the change in behaviour appears to be with exiting out with the back button. The previous version would close the browser and tab and so would reset to open to the homepage when opened again. The new version will open to the last open tab.

I have tried all possible settings to revert back to how the previous version worked, with no success. It is obviously how the updated version now behaves and something people will need to get used to.

I will try the Dolphin browser as you suggested, not only for the functionality but the support for flash as you pointed out. No support for flash in stock or chrome browser seems a bit of an oversight. Many thanks again for your reply.
