S3 use whilst charging

Hi,
I unboxed my new Samsung S3 today. Put it all together and started charging.
There was about 50% charge on the battery so whilst charging it I thought I'd have a play with it. This is when I noticed the phone was either very slow to respond to input or completely unresponsive. Removing the charger the phone was fine.
This sounds like a dodgy phone to me, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem?
I've tried rebooting, reconnecting the charger etc. But no help.
