Help S3 Verizon to GSM

With the problem that the bootloader has not been able to be unlocked, when the Verizon SCH-I535 is rooted, will a the phone be able to be used on GSM?

Sorry if the answer is obvious...

Thank you.

It already is?? Why would the bootloader need to be unlocked?

I could not get any of the unlocking items to work with my phone. When I called Verizon, they said it was already globally unlocked. So I figured that it was the sim card I was trying to do it with. Apparently I was right.... I ordered a new sim, for use on their newest network, and it working! The only thing for me to fix is the unknown source sim error, and to get it off of global and onto GSM. I have MetroPCS, and it was a Verizon GS3.
