S4 help needed please.

Hello.
When I lived in the US I bought a couple of S4's. Now living back in the UK and was wanting to use the phones if possible.
The first S4 took a new UK SIM with no problems. (I gave that phone to my brother)
The second S4 however is a major pain in the bum.
It was originally registered to US Cellular in the US.
Whenever a new SIM card is put in the error message is always the same. 'Invalid SIM card'
I figured I needed to unlock the phone from USC to be able to use another SIM.
This is where I run into problems.

There are many unlock codes out there. But, whenever I enter any code in the dialer nothing happens.
The dialer just sits there, like it's waiting for another command.

I've searched the web looking for anyone who has experienced the same thing, but found nothing.
I'm at a total loss...

Anyone here know what's going on?

Thanks for your help with this. Much appreciated.

Tracy

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Tracy :)

Could you please post the Model number details of both phones...

Settings > More > About device > Model number

(I'm guessing that one will be... SCH-R970)

Hmm now that's a good question. As I use a new S6, I gave the working S4 to my brother. I will email him and ask the model name:

Thanks

There's your answer then Tracy.

The SCH-i545 is an AT&T GSM network phone... which most of the world is on the GSM network.

The SCH-R970 is a U.S. Cellular CDMA network phone... which the USA, in part, and China, in part, are on.

Unfortunately, the SCH-R970 will not work in the U.K. or most of the world.

CDMA vs. GSM: What's the Difference?

:(
I was afraid that you were going to say that.. Hmm..
Well in that case I will use it as an mp3 player in the car. If I can figure out how to get an aux out port fitted on the stereo.
Thanks very much for your help!!
